Grandad kept a garden, A garden of the heart. He planted all of the good things, That gave our lives it’s start. You turned us towards the sunshine, And encouraged us to dream. Fostering and nurturing, Our seeds of self-esteem. And when the bad weather came, You protected us enough. But not too much because you knew, We would stand up strong and tough. Your constant good example, Always taught us right from wrong. Markers for our paths, that will last for a lifetime long. You really were one in a million, A cut above the rest. All who knew you would agree, You simply were the best. I will treasure the memories I have of you, I can’t believe you’re gone. I love and miss you with all my heart, But as long as you are in my memory, We will never be far apart. We are our Grandad’s garden, We are his legacy.
